Overview
ICE acquired the vacant Oakmont 410 industrial warehouse on San Antonio's East Side in January 2026 for about $66.1 million. Federal planning documents describe a 1,500-bed regional processing center with services such as medical care, targeted for activation by late 2026. San Antonio's mayor and Bexar County leaders said they were not notified before the purchase. City Council later passed limits on future facilities. Legal challenges elsewhere paused retrofit work in spring 2026.
