Overview
ICE purchased a warehouse in Social Circle, Georgia, despite fierce local opposition. City officials said the facility would roughly triple the town's population and that local water and sewer infrastructure is inadequate for detention use. In March 2026 the city blocked water access to the site. Federal purchases were broadly paused in April 2026, but the property remains in government hands.
