Overview
The Department of Homeland Security purchased a Tremont, Pennsylvania, warehouse for about $120 million as part of ICE's large-scale detention expansion. Local leaders opposed the project and estimated significant tax-revenue losses. Pennsylvania officials denied water and sewage service to the site. ICE appealed state environmental limits, and federal warehouse purchases were paused broadly in April 2026.
